ABSTRACT: Since the launch of the EU Global Strategy (EUGS), the Common
Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) has been complemented by a new range of
initiatives and instruments. At present, among the most prominent are the Coordinated
Annual Defence Review (CARD) and the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO).
This contribution will therefore attempt to analyse these new developments by focusing
on their maritime dimension, with the ultimate aim of establishing their link with the
migration phenomenon.
