    For the first time, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights issued a specific conviction for the violation of Article 26 of the American Convention on Human Rights, which provides for the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of this treaty, due to the violation of the right to work, in particular, the rights to job stability and association.   • Inter-American Court held in Panama

    The Inter-American Court held its 58th Special Session in Panama City from October 16 to 20, 2017. At the end of the visit, the President of the Inter-American Court thanked the President for his invitation to meet in Panama, "... which reflects the attitude and commitment of the State to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, international legal order and the values and principles it supports." He also highlighted the impact of this visit, which has made it possible to bring the Inter-American Court even closer to Panamanian society and institutions. See Article.

  • Venezuela responsible for the death of cadet of the National Guard

    Venezuela is responsible for failing to guarantee the rights to life and personal integrity to the detriment of a student of the Cordero National Guard Training School (ESGUARNAC), as concluded by the Inter-American Court in its sentence issued on August 22, 2017 and released on 13 October. The Court also found that Venezuela violated the cadet's parents' right to access to justice for processing the case before military jurisdiction, for deficiencies in the investigation and prosecution, and because of continued impunity to date.
