B1.1. General
B1.1.L This section applies to wells containing one or more
lift cars.
Bl.l.2. The counterweight of a lift should preferably be in the
same well as the car.
B1.2. Enclosure of the well
Bl.2.1. (1) Each well should be totally enclosed by imper-
forate walls, as defined in Bl.4.
(2) The only permissible openings should be:
landing doors (see B3);
inspection doors giving access to the well (B1.3);
ventilation openings (if any); and
permanent openings between the well and the machine or
pulley space.
