I am pleased to introd uce a new look and updated

approach for the WI PO Magazine.

I am all the more please d to do so since many of you, in the

recent WIPO Magaz ine reader survey, specifica lly mentioned the

previous graphi c design as one of the aspect s you would most

like to see improved. O ur design team has risen t o the challenge,

and I hope that you will f ind the new design app ealing.

I would like to thank a ll our readers for your interest in the

WIPO Magazine , with special thanks to those who t ook the time

to participate in t he reader survey. Your comments will enable

us to continue to im prove the Magazine and to feature the

emerging IP t rends and IP success storie s of interest to you.

In line with feedback rec eived from the survey, we are expanding

our coverage of certain I P issues; how IP is being used in

practice, for exa mple, and how the courts are hand ling

IP-related issu es in various jurisdictions . We have introduced,

in this first i ssue, two new series, one on I P and Sport and another

on Innovation Trends . We will, of course , continue to cover

the “hot” issue s occupying the minds of IP po licymakers, as well

as the groundb reaking projects on which WIPO is workin g.

To meet your expressed interest in more re gular online content,

we are working to expand the Ma gazine’s web and social

media presence. A m ore dynamic interface will soo n provide

you with an opportunit y to share your views on the stories

featured and to exc hange experiences with other re aders.
