In May 2013, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA)
announced the launch of a new we bsite, www.WheretoWatch.
org, which allows audiences to get movies a nd TV shows eas-
ily, quickly and legally online. T he website lists and categorizes
the various services available, summarizing what each platform
provides, the content available, how it is sup ported and the
devices with which it is c ompatible.
Senator Chris Dodd, Chairma n and CEO of the MPAA, under-
lined the importan ce of delivering content in new and creative
ways in a media landscape that of fers audiences unprecede nted
opportunities for viewing content. “Audiences want seamless
access to lm and TV shows. O ur industry has listened, and we
are now delivering more cho ices than ever before,” said Senator
Dodd. “There have never been mo re ways to access movies
and television legitimately online, and those platforms continue
to grow and develop thanks in large par t to a copyright system
that encourages innovation, ris k and growth. The companies I
represent are commit ted to continuing to create and develop the
best ways for audiences to enjoy the enter tainment they love.”
The MPAA is a trade association that s erves as the voice and
advocate of the American motion pic ture, home video and
television industries. Its members include Walt Disney Studios
Motion Pictures, Paramount Pictures Corporation, Sony Pictures
Entertainment Inc., Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporati on,
Universal City Stud ios LLC and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.

THINK-TANK
The rst climate change thin k-tank in
South America launc hed in Montevi-
deo, Uruguay, in March 2013, reports

Regional Center for Climate Chang e
and Decision-Mak ing, a joint initiative
by the Panama-based Avina Foundation
(which promotes sustainable develop-
ment in the region) and the United Na-
tions Educational, Scientic and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO), aims to help
policymakers design tools tailored to
local needs.
The Center’s programs will be imple-
mented through a partner ship program
involving 10 universities and academ ic
foundations from Argentina, Br azil, Chile,
Paraguay and Uruguay. The rst train-
ing event will take place in Uruguay in
October 2013 and will provide an oppor-
tunity for decision-makers from various
sectors and countries to discu ss the
latest trends in and knowledg e about
decision-making and climate change. A
number of national and regional training
courses tailored to spec ic local needs
and designed to help put the l atest de-
velopment concepts and scie nce into
practice will then be rolled o ut in early
2014, according to Denise G ornkiel, Of-
cer for Climate Change at the UNESCO
Regional Ofc e for Latin America and
the Caribbean.
The initiative promises to gene rate “a
critical mass of decision-makers who
incorporate the complexity of climate
change in their everyd ay decisions and
develop new management tools,” notes

Change Director for Latin Ame rica at the
Avina Foundation.
