LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
The Complex Face of Islamic Finance
Thunderbird International Business Review was one of the very first
journals to devote a special issue to the topic of Islamic Finance. Since
then we have published two more special issues on the topic. In all of
these, one thing I was hoping to see was an even richer contextualiza-
tion of the topic. In this special issue, Guest Editor M. Kabir Hassan
has exceeded my expectations by curating a rich collection of articles
that range from thick description of the practice of Islamic finance to
entrepreneurial implications, from corporate responsibility to ethical
dimensions and much, much more. Hassan offers an inspirational
message for academics and practitioners to advance research relating
to Islamic finance. He does so by leading the way with the selection
of articles in this issue. Thank you, Kabir, and all of those who gener-
ously contributed to the issue, for such a stellar job!
Finally, we would like to extend our gratitude to the reviewers
listed below without whose support this special issue would not have
been possible.
