"The total value of deals involving BRIC countries soared to more than $70 billion last year, more than three times the figure for 2005. Targets in Europe and the Americas accounted for more than $55 billion of this, though the volume in other parts of the world grew as well. Takeovers of companies in Asia were worth $7.8 billion last year, almost double the previous year's figure. The value of BRIC deals into Africa and the Middle East jumped to $4.9 billion, up from just $2.2 billion the year before, and just $139 million in 2003."
