NOTES ON CONTRIBUTORS
Varun K. aery is a JD candidate at UC Davis School of Law. His research
interests include public international law, international human rights law, and
economic, social, and cultural rights. He is a Student Fellow with the California
International Law Center (CILC) at Davis School of Law and a board member
of the World Aairs Council’s Sacramento Steering Committee.
Walter Kendall III is Professor of Law at the John Marshall Law School in
Chicago teaches Constitutional, Administrative and Regulatory Law courses.
He is a former regulator and also corporate attorney. His most recent article
Adam Smith’s Lectures on Jurisprudence-Justice, Law, and the Moral Economy was
published in the I C L J in 2014.
Haroun raHimi is an associate professor in Private Law Department of Herat
University Law and Political Science Faculty and a member of Afghanistan
Independent Bar Association. Also, he directed Afghanistan rst Informal
Justice Clinic at Herat University, Afghanistan. He obtained his LLB degree
from Herat University, and his LLM in Global Business Law earned from
University of Washington School of Law, where he is currently a PhD student.
Professor Rahimi’s research focuses on interaction between formal legal system
and Shari’ah in Islamic countries specically development of western law
in Islamic context. He teaches International Commercial Law, Intellectual
Property Law, Comparative Legal System, Banking law and introduction to law
in Herat University. Dari is Rahimi’s native language; however, he can read,
write and speak in English and Pashto. He also has a working knowledge of
modern standard Arabic.
natHalie nicole Vergoulias received a Bachelor of Science in Construction
Management cum laude from Florida International University (FIU) School of
Engineering & Computing and graduated through the Honors College in 2011.
While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Nathalie gained experience within
the construction industry for one of the largest construction management rms
in the United States by assisting with the planning and management of the
Miami Intermodal Center, a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
project. Upon graduation from FIU, Nathalie earned her Certied General
Contractor (CGC) license in the state of Florida. She received both her Juris
Doctor and Master of Science in Construction Management degrees jointly
from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and the M.E. Rinker, Sr.
School of Construction Management in 2015. While in law school Nathalie
served as a member of the Florida Journal of International Law, the Journal of
Technology Law & Policy, and the Florida Business Moot Court. Nathalie also
received the Book Award in the Conservation Clinic and Distinction in Trial
