LIST OF CONTRIBUTORS
Yeney Acea Valdés currently teaches Patent and Trademark Law at the University
of Havana. Her most recent publication is ‘Intellectual Property system and tra-
ditional knowledge protection. Necessary notes’ (Alegatos Magazine, Number
94, 2016). She is presently working in a book on the legal protection of patents
and trademarks in Cuba.
Alessandro Badella earned a PhD in Political Science at the University of Genoa
(Italy), with a project on US external democracy promotion (EDP) in Cuba. He
has published two books in Italian and several articles on international journals
about US–Cuba relations after the Cold War.
Karl Besel is the Assistant Dean and Director of the School of Public and
Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University Northwest. His latest book
publication is Passing the Torch: Planning for the Next Generation of Public-
Service Leaders (with Charlotte Williams), University of Arkansas Press.
Patrick Calmon de Carvalho Braga recently completed his undergraduate stud-
ies at Cornell University, earning a degree in Urban and Regional Studies and
another in Music (summa cum laude) and Economics.
Al Campbell is a retired Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of
Utah and a member of the editorial board of this journal. His current research
interests focus on the functioning of contemporary capitalism, and the theory
and practice of more humane alternatives. The Cuban economy has been one of
his central research areas for the past three decades. He is editor of Cuban
Economists on the Cuban Economy, Gainesville, University Press of Florida,
2013.
Laurence Goodchild has an MA in International Studies from Oxford Brookes
University and is Deputy Features Editor of E-International Relations (www.
eir.info).
Yoan Karell Acosta González completed his PhD in Linguistics in 2013, with a
dissertation on Critical Discourse Analysis. He is a Professor at Havana
