Haiti Responds to Tropical Storm

Cite Soleil in the Haitian capital of Port au Prince was among the areas worst hit by tropical storm Isaac last weekend. Isaac passed over Haiti late Friday, bringing heavy rains and flooding across much of the country. This time, contrary to earlier concerns, no huge casualty numbers were caused, largely due to a rapid reaction organized by the local government and the International Organization for Migration. Thousand of residents living in camps were evacuated well before the storm struck. They have been evacuated to safe centers." About 390,000 people are still living under tarps and in tents, two and a half years after the devastating earthquake struck the Carribean country.
