Chavez Re-Elected

The announcement by the electoral authority has sent Chavez's supporters into immediate celebrations. The sky above the capital Caracas is lightened up with fireworks. Such celebrations are expected to last for days. In a late-night speech delivered from the balcony of the presidential palace, Chavez called his reelection "the people's victory". During the emotional address, he lifted a sword of former Venezuelan independence hero Simon Bolivar -- his personal hero. Chavez vows to be a better president and to press ahead with the socialist revolution--"21st century socialism" as he calls it.
