From 3 to 7 January 1991, Guido de Marco of Malta, President of the forty-fifth General Assembly, visited Palestine refugee camps in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jordan. He is the first Assembly President ever to visit such camps. UNRWA Commissioner-General Giorgio Fiacomelli accompanied him.

Mr. de Marco also met with high-level Israeli officials to discuss the question of Palestine refugees.
