Women's March in Bishkek Sparks Outrage

AKIPRESS.COM - Bishkek hosted a peaceful women's march on March 8 on the occasion of the International Women's Day.

About 200 people marched carrying different posters. Some of the march participants carried rainbow flags in support of the LGBT- community, which sparked outrage among some citizens.

Kyrk Choro nationalist movement announced that they will hold a protest action on March 13 to demand resignation of Bishkek mayor Aziz Surakmatov for allowing this feminist march calling it "a gay parade." Surakmatov...
