Shavkat Mirziyoyev fires heads of energy companies

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev criticized the officials responsible for the energy sector at a meeting on January 16. Disciplinary measures have been taken against them, the presidential press service said.

The repair of the 800 MW power unit at the Talimarjan thermal power plant has not been completed in six months, the President noted. 3 billion kilowatts of electricity (about 16% of the total electricity consumed by the population) has not been supplied.

Mirziyoyev dismissed Deputy Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjaev and Chairman of the Thermal Power Plants Farhod Abdurakhmanov.

The head of state said that chairman of the Regional Electric Networks company Ulugbek Mustafoyev did not fulfill the plan to upgrade electric networks and low-voltage transformers even by 50%.
