Shardar water reservoir in Kazakhstan being filled with water discharged from Toktogul dam

Local residents are concerned about increase in water inflow in the Shardar water reservoir, the Ministry of Ecology of Kazakhstan reported on January 9.

The Ministry of Ecology linkes the increase in water volume of the dam with increase in water inflow from the Toktogul water reservoir from October to December 2022.

The water inflow int Shardar water reservoir was projected at 880 cubic meters per second in December on average, but in fact the inflow made around 1,400 cubic meters a second.

As of January 10, the volume of the Shardar water reservoir has made 4,070 million cubic meters (78% of the installed capacity), which is by 1,683 million cubic meters more than in the previous year.
