(200 8), 1 884 (20 09), 19 37 (201 0) and 2004 (2011), 20 64 (201 2), 2115 (2013) , 2172

(201 4) and 2 236 (2 015), 23 05 (2 016), and 23 73 (20 17) as well as th e stat ements of

its Pr esident on the sit uation i n Lebano n and the Press st atements dated 19 Decembe r

2016 , 27 Mar ch 2018 , 9 Augus t 2018,

Welcomi ng the p rogress toward s reac tivation of t he Leb anese state i nstitutio ns

and the rece nt hold ing of legislat ive elec tions, the first Parlia mentary electio ns since

2009 , and callin g for the formatio n of a new Leban ese G overnme nt wit hout f urther

dela y,

Resp ondi ng to the requ est of the Governm ent of Le banon to extend th e mandat e

of the U nited Nations Inte rim F orce i n Leb anon ( UNIFIL ) for a pe riod of one year

witho ut am endment prese nted i n a l etter from t he Leb anese Foreign Minis ter to the

Secr etary-Ge neral of 23 J uly 2018 an d welcomi ng the lette r from the Se cretary -

Gene ral to it s Presi dent of 30 July 2018 ( S/2018/7 50) recomm ending this ext ension,

Reit erati ng its stron g supp ort fo r the territ orial integr ity, sov ereignty and

poli tical ind ependen ce of L ebanon,

Reaf firm ing i ts commit ment to the full impl ementati on of all pro visions o f

resol ution 1701 ( 2006), and aware of its respon sibilitie s to help s ecure a perm anent

ceas efire an d a long -term s olution as envi sioned i n the r esolutio n,

Expre ssing con cern at the limi ted progr ess mad e toward s the esta blishme nt of a

perm anent cea sefire an d other key provisio ns of resol ution 1 701 (200 6) more th an ten

year s after its adop tion,

Call ing upon a ll concer ned parti es to stre ngthen th eir effort s, includ ing by

expl oring concret e sol utions with the Special Coord inator of t he Se cretary -Gene ral

and the UNIFIL Force Com mander, to fully impleme nt all pro visions of resoluti on

1701 (2006) without delay,
