Consi derin g that technologi cal change includes n ew and powerf ul tools tha t can

help to reali ze the vi sion of th e 2030 Agen da for Su stainable Developm ent,

mind ful

that the impact, opportun ities a nd challe nges of rapid techno logical change on

sustai nable developme nt are being assesse d in order to de epen t heir un derstandin g,

and re calling its r esolution 73/17 of 26 Novem ber 2018, in which it de cided to

conti nue discus sing the t opic “Imp act of rap id technolog ical cha nge on the

achie vement o f the Sustaina ble D evelopmen t Goals a nd target s”,

Noting tha t rapid t echnologi cal change can cont ribute to the faste r achievem ent

of the 2 030 Agenda by imp roving rea l incomes, ena bling faster and wider dep loyment

of no vel soluti ons to ec onomic, social an d environm ental ob stacl es, suppor ting more

inclu sive forms of par ticipatio n in social and econom ic life, re placing

envir onmentall y costl y mod es of producti on with more sustaina ble one s and giving

polic ymakers po werful t ools to de sign and plan deve lopment intervent ions,

Recalling its reso lutions 69/313 of 27 July 2015 and 70/1 of 25 Sep tember 2015 ,

in whi ch it esta blished and launched a Techn ology Faci litation Me chanism to support

the S ustainable Developm ent Goal s, whose updated f indings o n this to pic, as w ell as

those of th e Comm ission on Scie nce a nd Technol ogy f or Dev elopment, were

presen ted and discus sed at its s ixth mul ti-stak eholder forum on scien ce, te chnology

and i nnovation for the Sustainabl e Develop ment Goal s,
