74/277. Comprehensi ve review of the whole question of peacekeeping

operations in all their aspects

The Gene ral Assembly,

Recallin g its resolu tion 2006 (XIX) of 18 Februa ry 1965 and a ll other releva nt

resolu tions,

Recallin g in part icular its resolution 73/293 of 20 May 2 019,

Affirming th at the e fforts of the United Nation s in the pea ceful s ettlement of

disput es, includin g through its p eacekeepin g operation s, are in dispensabl e,

Convinc ed o f the need for the United Nations to con tinue to improve its

capab ilities i n the fi eld o f peace keeping and t o enhan ce the effectiv e an d efficien t

deplo yment o f its peace keeping ope ration s,

Conside ring the con tribution that all State s Members of the Unit ed Nations

make t o pea cekeeping ,

Noting the wides pread inte rest in c ontributing t o the wor k of the Special

Committee on Peacekeep ing Operatio ns ex pressed b y Member State s, in p articular

troop - and polic e-contribu ting countrie s,

Bearing in mind the contin uous necessit y of preserv ing th e efficien cy and

streng thening the effectiveness of the work of the Specia l Committee ,

1. Welcomes the report of the Special Committee on Peaceke eping Operatio ns;

2. Endorses the pr oposals, re commenda tions an d concl usions of the Special

Committee contai ned in chap ter V of its re port;
