Inde pendence to Coloni al Countri es and Peop les for 201 8 relating to New Cal edonia,

Reaffirm ing the right of pe oples to self- determi nation as en shrined in t he

Char ter of t he Unite d Nation s,

Reca llin g its resol utions 1514 (XV ) of 14 Dece mber 1960 and 15 41 (X V) of

15 Dece mber 19 60, and stressin g princi ple VI o f the an nex to r esolutio n 154 1 (X V),

Reca lling also th e pro visions of th e Nou méa Acc ord,

wh ich, inter alia,

unde rscores the import ance of the trans fer o f pow ers a nd ski lls i n a timely manne r

from the ad ministeri ng Powe r to the people of Ne w Caled onia,

Reaffirm ing tha t t he natural re sources are th e h eritage of the pe oples of the

Non- Self-Go verning Te rritorie s, includ ing the indigen ous popu lations,

Conc erne d ab out any activi ties aime d at exp loiting t he natur al and hu man

reso urces of th e Non -Self-G overnin g Territo ries to the detr iment of th e inte rests of

the i nhabita nts of t hose Territ ories,

Noting the i mportan ce of the po sitive mea sures bei ng pursue d in New Cal edonia

by the F rench aut horities , in cooper ation with all sector s of the popu latio n, to promot e

equi table po litical, econo mic and social devel opment in the Territory, i ncludin g
