and the reco mmenda tions co ntained therein ,

Reaffirm ing i ts re solution 70/ 1 of 25 Sep tember 2015, enti tled “Transfo rming

our worl d: t he 2030 A genda for Susta inable Deve lopment ”, in which it adopte d a

comp rehensiv e, fa r-reachi ng and peopl e-centr ed set of universa l and transf ormativ e

Sust ainable D evelop ment Goa ls and tar gets, its commitm ent to wo rking ti relessl y for

the f ull impl ementat ion of t he Agenda b y 2030, its r ecogniti on that eradi cating

pove rty i n al l its for ms an d di mension s, in cluding extr eme poverty, is the greates t

glob al cha llenge and an in dispens able r equirem ent fo r sus tainabl e deve lopment , its

comm itment to achie ving s ustainab le deve lopmen t in i ts thre e dime nsions –

econ omic, social and envir onmenta l – in a ba lanced and integr ated manner, and to

buil ding up on the achie vements of t he Mil lennium Devel opment Goals and s eeking

to ad dress t heir unfi nished business ,

Reca llin g that the Susta inable De velopme nt Goals an d targets ar e integra ted and

indi visible a nd ba lance th e thr ee d imension s of sus tainable deve lopment , an d

ackn owledgin g t he i mportan ce of r eaching the roa d s afety-r elated targ ets, such as

targe t 3.6 , whi ch ai ms to halv e, b y 202 0, t he nu mber of g lobal deaths and injuri es

from road traffic accide nts, a nd targ et 11.2, which aims to pr ovide, by 203 0, acc ess

to safe, affor dable, acce ssible and susta inable transp ort systems for all, imp roving

road safety, not ably by ex panding public t ranspor t, with sp ecial att ention to the need s

of tho se in vuln erable s ituation s, women, childre n, person s with dis abilitie s and olde r
