Reaffirm ing the outc ome of t he Unite d Nations Confer ence on t he Human

Envi ronment, espec ially p rinciple 7 of the Declarat ion of the C onferen ce,

Noti ng with great con cern th e enviro nmenta l disast er caus ed by th e destru ction

by t he Israe li Air Fo rce on 15 July 2006 o f the oi l storag e tanks in the direct vicinity

of th e Jiyah electric power p lant in L ebanon, resultin g in an o il slick that cov ered the

entir ety of the Leba nese coastl ine, exten ded to the Syr ian coastl ine and hinde red

effor ts t o a chieve sust ainable de velopmen t, as already high lighted by the Ge neral
