Bear ing in mind the provi sions of Chapte r VIII of the Chart er of t he United

Nati ons on the ex istence of re gional arrange ments o r agenc ies for deali ng with such

matt ers re lating to the mainten ance of i nternati onal p eace a nd se curity as are

appr opriate for r egional actio n and other activit ies co nsistent with the purposes and

princ iples o f the Un ited Nat ions,

Welcomi ng the co ntinued commi tment of the States membe rs of the Caribbe an

Comm unity t o the Un ited Nat ions as a princ ipal for um for m ultilate ral coop eration ,

Reca llin g the c ooperat ion agree ment betwe en the sec retariat s of the Uni ted

Nati ons a nd the Cari bbean Comm unity,

and beari ng in mind the coop eration

acti vities u ndertake n pursu ant to t hat agre ement,

Emph asiz ing the co ntinued i mportan ce of regul ar engage ments bet ween the

two organ izations , inc luding cont acts between the Secr etary-G eneral of the United

Nati ons a nd He ads o f Gov ernment of the Caribbe an Co mmunity, and also betwee n

the Secr etary-Ge neral of t he Un ited Natio ns and the Secr etary-G eneral of the

Cari bbean Co mmunit y, wit h a vie w to rei nforcing cooper ation an d collab oration,

Noti ng, in th is conn ection, the eighth general meeti ng bet ween re present atives

of t he Cari bbean Communi ty and the U nited N ations syste m, held in Ge orgetown in

July 2015 to revie w the pr ogress made in implem enting the coor dinatio n mecha nism

led by the United Nation s Devel opment Group for La tin Ame rica an d the Caribbea n

and to discu ss issues identifi ed as p riorities by the Caribbea n Commu nity secretari at,

in l ine with the Co mmunity strate gic plan for t he perio d 2015 –2019, includi ng

regio nal integr ation, mac roeconom ic stabili zation, bu ilding co mpetitive ness for

growt h an d e mployment gen eration, incl usive growth, huma n capital dev elopmen t,
