The General Assembly ,

Reca lling its res olution 59 /28 1 of 29 M arch 2005 , i n which it end orsed the

reco mmendat ion of th e Specia l Commi ttee on P eacekee ping Ope rations that the

Secr etar y-Gen eral make avail able to the Unit ed Na tions mem bership a

comp rehensiv e rep ort on th e issu e of sex ual ex ploitatio n and abuse in Unit ed

Nations peaceke eping o peration s,

Reca lling also th at the Secreta ry-Gene ral, on 24 Mar ch 2005, tran smitted to

the Pre sident of the Ge neral Assem bly a report of his Ad viser conc erning sex ual

expl oitation and abu se by U nited Na tions p eacekeep ing per sonnel,

Reca lling furt her its resol ution 59/300 of 2 2 June 2005, in which it endor sed

the r ecommen dation o f the Sp ecial Co mmittee that a g roup of l egal exp erts be

esta blished to prov ide advice on the bes t wa y t o p roceed so as to ens ure that the

origi nal intent of the Chart er o f th e U nited Nation s c an b e ac hieved, nam ely, t hat

Unit ed Natio ns staff and ex perts o n missio n would never be effec tively e xempt f rom

the cons equences of cri minal a cts com mitted a t their duty stat ion, nor unjustl y

pena lized, w ithout d ue proc ess,
