The General Assembly ,

Havi ng consi dered t he item enti tled “Ec onomic and othe r activi ties w hich

affec t the in terests o f the p eoples o f the No n-Self -Gove rning Terr itories” ,

Havi ng examine d t he chapter of the re port of the Speci al Committ ee on the

Situa tion with regar d to the Impl ementat ion of t he D eclarati on o n th e Gr anting of

Inde pendence to Co lonial C ountries and Peo ples for 2016 r elating to the i tem,

Recall ing its resolu tion 1514 (XV) of 14 De cember 1960, as well as all other

releva nt resolutio ns of the Gener al Assembly, i ncluding, i n particula r, res olutions

46/181 of 19 De cember 1991, 55/146 of 8 Dec ember 2000 and 6 5/119 of

10 Decembe r 2010,

Reaffi rming the solemn obligatio n of the a dministering Powers und er the Cha rter

of the United N ations to p romote the politi cal, econom ic, social and e ducational

advanc ement of the inhabit ants of the Territories un der their administ ration and to

protec t the human a nd natural resources o f those Territo ries against abuses,

Reaf firmi ng al so that any econo mic or o ther ac tivity t hat has a nega tive imp act

on the i nterests o f t he people s of the Non -Self-Gov erning Terri tories and o n the

exer cise o f their right to s elf-det erminati on in confor mity with t he Cha rter, G eneral

Asse mbly reso lution 15 14 (XV) and the ot her relev ant resol utions of the Unite d

Nati ons on d ecoloniz ation i s contra ry to th e purpos es and principl es of th e Charte r,

Reaf firming further that the nat ural res ources are the herita ge of the peo ples of

the Non-Self -Gove rning Terr itories, includi ng the i ndigeno us popul ations,

Taking into acc ount Ge neral A ssembly resolut ion 1803 (XVII) of 14 D ecember

1962 regard ing the sovere ignty o f peopl es over their natural wealth and res ources in

accorda nce with the Charter and the rele vant resolut ions of the U nited Natio ns o n

deco loni zatio n,
