The General Assembly ,
Reca lling the releva nt princ iples se t forth in the C harter o f the Un ited Na tions,
Reaf firmi ng the Decl aration on P rincipl es of In ternatio nal Law concer ning
Frie ndly Re lations and Coopera tion a mong St ates i n accor dance with t he Char ter of
the United Natio ns,

Grav ely con cerned that the use of u nilatera l coer cive ec onomic me asures
adve rsely af fects th e econo mies a nd the d evelopm ent effo rts of d evelopi ng coun tries
in pa rticular and has a ge neral ne gative im pact on inter nationa l eco nomic
coop eration an d on worldw ide effort s t o move towa rds a non -discrimi natory and
open multila teral tr ading s ystem,
Reco gniz ing that su ch meas ures co nstitut e a fla grant vi olation of the princip les
of internat ional law as set f orth i n the Charter, as w ell as the b asic p rinciple s of the
multi lateral trading system,
