La oea entrenará a funcionarios consulares de haití en la lucha contra la trata de personas

Dos sesiones de entrenamiento para el personal consular de Haití en aspectos relacionados con la lucha contra la trata de personas se realizarán en Puerto Príncipe, entre los días 18 y 19 de febrero del año en curso. El encuentro, organizado por el Departamento de Seguridad Pública de la Secretaría de Seguridad Multidimensional de la OEA, da continuidad al “Programa de Entrenamiento para Funcionarios Consulares sobre Prevención y Protección de Víctimas de Trata de Personas”.
El entrenamiento, que también se llevó a cabo en 2008 y principios de 2009 en las sedes de los Ministerios de Relaciones Exteriores y de las Academias Diplomáticas de Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Perú y República Dominicana, se realizará en esta oportunidad en Haití, y contará con la participación de funcionarios consulares del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de dicho país, así como de funcionarios de otras instituciones nacionales vinculadas a la lucha contra la trata de personas.
El objetivo del curso es brindar capacitación y promover la concientización acerca de la necesidad de prevenir la trata de personas y de asistir a las víctimas de este delito, así como fomentar el conocimiento de cuestiones de género y derechos humanos. Aproximadamente cuarenta funcionarios participarán en el entrenamiento.
