Oea asiste a bahamas en el desarrollo de una estrategia nacional de seguridad cibernética

El Comité Interamericano contra el Terrorismo (CICTE) de la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA) realizó una visita a Nassau, Bahamas, los días 24 y 25 de abril, como parte de la asistencia técnica que se preste al gobierno del país caribeño para asistir en el desarrollo de su Estrategia Nacional de Seguridad Cibernética, a través de una iniciativa que será coordinada por el Programa de Seguridad Cibernética de la OEA, junto al Ministerio de Seguridad Nacional del Commonwealth de las Bahamas.
Durante la visita, se llevó a cabo un taller con el objetivo de desarrollar una estrategia nacional para el establecimiento de un equipo nacional de respuesta a incidentes informáticos (CIRT). La misión técnica fue dirigida por especialistas en seguridad cibernética de la OEA. El grupo discutió diversos enfoques en el desarrollo e implementación de la estrategia nacional, y los participantes fueron guiados a través de las sesiones de trabajo para formular los principios fundamentales de la estrategia. La visita formó parte de una oferta más amplia de asistencia destinada a ayudar a las Bahamas a desarrollar su Estrategia Nacional de Seguridad Cibernética Nacional y un CIRT.
El Secretario Ejecutivo del CICTE, Neil Klopfenstein, dijo que la OEA y el Gobierno de Bahamas, desde su adhesión a la Organización en 1982, han tenido una relación de beneficio mutuo a través del intercambio de conocimientos y experiencias. “Estamos en condiciones de ofrecer este nivel de asistencia técnica a las Bahamas, sabemos que debido al éxito económico y el ingreso per cápita y distribución del ingreso que tiene el país caribeño, es sujeto de ser un objetivo primordial para los delincuentes cibernéticos”, dijo.
El Secretario Ejecutivo Klopfenstein indicó que “el desarrollo e implementación de una Estrategia Nacional de Seguridad Cibernética en nuestro actual contexto global permitirá al Commonwealth de las Bahamas unirse a otros países en la lucha contra la ciber-delincuencia. La OEA ya ha apoyado en esta tarea a Colombia, Panamá, y Trinidad y Tobago, y esperamos que siga prestando ese apoyo a otros Estados Miembros que así lo requieran”.
