More than 4,800 died as a result of deadly quake in Trkiye and Syria

The death toll from two earthquakes in Trkiye on February 6 made 3,381, some 20,436 were injured, Head of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) Yunus Sezer said.

AFAD Quake and Disaster Risk Reduction Department Chief Orhan Tatar said 5,575 buildings collapsed.

Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said earlier 7,840 people were rescued, 338,000 were accommodated in dormitories, universities and shelters.

The northern areas of Syria were affected severely. More than 1,440 people died, Hurriet Daily News reported with reference to the Ministry of Health.
