Locals complain about absence of gas at homes after Uzbekistan closes gas stations

The activities of all gas filling stations have been suspended in Uzbekistan, kun.uz writes.

The Energy Ministry said that measures are being taken to deliver natural gas to the population. However, both drivers and residents are left without gas.

The Ministry of Energy reported on January 12 that the volume of natural gas supplies to some large industrial enterprises was sharply reduced due to abnormal cold weather, and the operation of automobile gas filling stations was temporarily stopped for a short period.

"A sharp drop in gas pressure in gas pipelines is observed due to the abnormally low temperatures. Measures are being taken to deliver natural gas to the population, power generating enterprises and social facilities," the message notes.

Locals however say that closing gas stations changed nothing.

"It got even worse. The gas that was before was gone. The lights are off, the water is frozen. In general, the energy supply system has never justified itself in 30 years," a resident of Namangan told Kun.uz.

The locals pay an average of 100,000 soums every week for gas, which reaches more than 300,000 soums per month.
