Kazakh officials are concerned with lines at checkpoints on Kyrgyz-Kazakh border

Checkpoints on the border with Kyrgyzstan cannot cope with the influx of people despite the modernization of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz section, MP Konstantin Avershin said.

The Kazakh-Kyrgyz section of the border was modernized, provided with the necessary technical means and engineering structures, the Kazakh MP added. The Parliament's committee got acquainted with the modernization during the off-site meeting in Korday.

"The existing checkpoints on the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border cannot cope with the flow of people, especially in the summer, we all know about this. What steps are being taken now in order to increase the throughput of checkpoints on the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border?" Avershin asked at a meeting of the lower house of the Parliament on Wednesday.
