Former Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov appointed director of IICA

Former Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov was appointed director of the International Institute of Central Asia, the IICA reports.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the order appointing Norov on December 30. Anvar Nasirov previously held the post of the director.

IICA was created at the suggestion of the head of Uzbekistan in 2020. The institute is "the only state research institution in the region engaged in interdisciplinary research on civilizational diversity and modern processes of sustainable development in Central Asia", the institute's website says.
