INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND
e International Monetary Fu nd will hold the Seventeenth
Jacques Polak Annual Rese arch Conference at its headquar-
ters in Washington, DC, on November 3–4, 2 016. It prom-
ises to be an exciting oppor tunity to revisit a range of issues
in macroeconomics that have been the foc us of academic
and policy debates in t he aermath of the global nancia l
crisis. e conference wil l be in honor of Olivier Blanchard,
former economic counselor and director of the Re search
Department at the Internat ional Monetary Fund, and will
host an excellent set of exper ts in the eld, as well as a
number of high-calib er discussants, such as: Francesco Gia-
vazzi (Bocconi), Jeromin Zettel meyer (Gov. of Germany),
Charles Wyplosz (Graduate Institute of Internationa l and
Development Studies), Guido Lorenzoni (Northwestern),
Anil Kashyap (U. Chicago), Giovanni Dell ’Ariccia (IMF),
omas Philippon (NYU), Peter Dia mond (MIT), Giuseppe
Bertola (EDHEC), Janice Eberly (US Treasury), Romain
Duval (IMF), Jonathan Ost ry (IMF), and Gian-Maria
Milesi-Ferretti (IMF). e Mundell-Flemi ng Lecture will be
delivered by Larry Su mmers (Harvard), and the Economic
Forum Panel wil l include Olivier Blanchard (Peterson
Institute), Stanley Fischer (Federal Res erve Board), Kristin
Forbes (MIT and Bank of Eng land) and Federico Sturzene g-
ger (Central Bank of Argentina).
