PLACE AND DATE OF THE FIFTH CONFERENCE OF THE STATES PARTIES TO THE INTER-AMERICAN CONVENTION AGAINST THE ILLICIT MANUFACTURING OF AND TRAFFICKING IN FIREARMS, AMMUNITION, EXPLOSIVES, AND OTHER RELATED MATERIALS (CIFTA), AND THE TWENTY-FIRST REGULAR MEETING
OF THE CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE OF THE CIFTA

(Adopted by the Permanent Council at its virtual regular meeting held on July 21, 2021)

THE PERMANENT COUNCIL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES,

UNDERSCORING the importance of the Inter-American Convention Against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and other related Materials (CIFTA) to further improvement of public security in the Americas;

BEARING IN MIND the importance of continuing to develop cooperation and technical assistance to facilitate the full implementation of the CIFTA;

AWARE of the importance of periodically holding a Conference of States Parties to review the functioning and application of the CIFTA;

CONSIDERING that the General Assembly, through resolution AG/RES. 2950 (L-O/20), adopted at its fiftieth regular session, resolved to convene the Fifth Conference of the States Parties to the CIFTA, in keeping with Article XXVIII of the Convention;
