75/90. The situation in Afghanistan
The Gene ral Assembly,
Recallin g its r esolution 74/9 of 27 November 2019 and all i ts previous re levant
resoluti ons,
Recallin g also all releva nt Securit y Council resolutions and st atements by the
Presiden t of the Council on the situation in Afghanistan, in particu lar re solutions
2189 (2014) of 12 December 2 014, 2210 (2015) of 16 M arch 2015, 2274 ( 2016) of
15 March 2016, 23 44 (2017) of 17 March 2017, 2405 (20 18) of 8 M arch 2018,
2489 (2019) of 17 Septem ber 2019, 251 3 (2020) of 10 March 20 20 and 2543 (2020)
of 15 Septemb er 2020,
Reaffirm ing its strong commitment to the sove reignty, independ ence, territor ial
integrit y an d nat ional unity o f Afghani stan, and res pecting its mul ticultural,
multi-et hnic and histo rical heritage,
Welcoming the efforts by Afghanist an in t he framewor k of the Transformation
Decade (201 5–2024) to consolidat e it s s overeignty through strengthe ning a fully
function ing, sustainab le State in the service of its peop le, with the goal of be coming
fully se lf-reliant,
Recallin g the im portance of the d evelopment of th e inst itutions of the
Governme nt of the Islamic Republic of A fghanistan ( hereinafter the Gove rnment of
Afghanis tan), includin g at the subna tional level, the strengthen ing of the rul e of law,
democrat ic processes and civil s ociety, the fig ht against c orruption, th e continuatio n
of justic e sector reform, the promotio n of an inclusive Afghan-led and Afghan-ow ned
peace process, including t he full and meanin gful partic ipation of women a nd youth
in the p eace process, in accordance wit h resolutions 1325 (2000) of 31 October 20 00
and 2250 (2015) of 9 December 2015 and their subsequent resolutions , and of an
Afghan-l ed transitiona l justice proc ess, the safe, voluntary, digni fied and susta inable
return of Afghan refugees and int ernally di splaced perso ns, th e promotion and
