Professor Shinichi Ichimura: The visionary founder of the
East Asian Economic Association

Professor Shinichi Ichimura passed away in Yokohama on July 3, 2024 at the
age of 99. He was the founding father of the East Asian Economic Association
(EAEA) in that he initiated the first meeting in Hong Kong to prepare for the
association in 1984, together with other founding members. Later, Professor
