Preface
In accordance with the decision taken by the Governing
Body of the ILO at its 226th (May-June 1984) Session, a
meeting of experts was convened in Geneva from 16 to 23 April
1985 to draw up a code of practice on safety and health in coal
mines. The meeting was composed of six experts appointed
following consultations with governments, six experts
appointed following consultations with the Employers' group
and six experts appointed following consultations with the
Workers' group of the Governing Body.1
