Over the weekend, the Deputy Secretary-General attended the Extraordinary Summit of the African Union and participated in the historic launch of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and its operational instruments.

With the signing of the Agreement by Nigeria and Benin at this Summit, the African Continental Free Trade Area market is the world's largest free trade area, encompassing 54 countries and 1.2 billion people.

Whilst in Niamey, the Deputy Secretary-General also had bilateral meetings with the President of the Republic of Niger, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the President of Republic of The Gambia, the...
