Implementation of Casa-1000 to Not Have Severe Impact on Environment - Tajik Expert

The project on transfer of electricity from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan (CASA-1000) will not have a significant impact on the environmental component of Tajikistan, director of the Tajik branch of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) Malika Babadjanova said at a consultation meeting to discuss preliminary reports on CASA-1000 project in Dushanbe on Wednesday. According to her, prepared report is preliminary and serves as a guide for development of more detailed route of the future lines. Babadjanova noted that CASA-1000 project will allow the countries to diversify their export potential, as well as to create a stable electricity market.
