Europe, China, And The United States Adopt Food Safety Agreement

On November 2, 2015, the U.S. FDA, the Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission, and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China adopted an agreement to enhance cooperation on food safety. After several years of discussion, the text was finalized and endorsed during a visit to Beijing. This agreement gives an official basis for a reinforced cooperation on (i) food safety information exchange, including technical and scientific information exchange, (ii) strengthening the capacity to respond to food safety problems, and (iii) establishing joint food safety meetings or forums when needed.
