Demarest Hosts The Annual Meeting Of Basque Country Companies With SPRI

On May 19, 2015, Demarest welcomed the most representative Basque Country companies engaged in business in Brazil in its São Paulo office. The event was organized together with Sociedad para la Transformación Competitiva, S.A. (SPRI). SPRI is a Basque government dependent business development agency that supports and promotes the economic growth of Basque companies by providing assistances and services.

The event, primarily spoken in Spanish, was an excellent opportunity to publicly present the Spanish Desk of Demarest to all its attendees. The Demarest Spanish Desk, among others, offers a tailor-made service to our Spanish clients. Further, the Demarest Spanish Desk is composed of Demarest's highly educated Spanish-speaking professionals, some of them having obtained their doctoral degrees from leading Spanish universities, such as ESADE.

After an introductory meeting, Demarest's auditorium received the representatives of Basque Country companies and held an opening speech of Ms. Begoña Aldekogaray (Director of SPRI in Latam) who welcomed the attendees and introduced the first speaker, Mr. Paulo Abasolo (Director of SPRI Brazil). Mr. Abasolo offered an overview of the current economic situation of Brazil and provided the attendees with his own forecast for the next few years.

After a dynamic and very interesting speech, the participants had the opportunity to listen to Mr. Gabriel Kuznietz, a M&A partner at Demarest with extensive experience attending foreign companies in Brazil. Mr. Kuznietz introduced Demarest law firm and gave a lecture on the administrators' liability and the main mistakes to be avoided by them in order not to be responsible when doing business in Brazil.
