Se cierra en chile reunión de la oea sobre tribunales de tratamiento de drogas

Con una serie de ejercicios prácticos sobre el funcionamiento de los Tribunales de Tratamiento de Drogas (TTD) culmina hoy un taller internacional realizado por la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA) y el Gobierno de Chile, que cuenta con la participación de más de 250 jueces, fiscales, abogados defensores, y profesionales de tratamiento de Chile, Costa Rica, República Dominicana, México, Argentina, Ecuador, Estados Unidos, Canadá, y Bélgica.
El taller de tres días de duración consta de dos partes, una teórica y una práctica, esta última incluye la revisión de casos reales en que los imputados se someten de forma voluntaria a un programa de tratamiento bajo supervisión judicial. Los TTD forman parte de una experiencia que cuenta con 20 años en la región y que busca ser una alternativa a la pena carcelaria para aquellas personas que hayan cometido delitos menores y son dependientes de drogas.
El Magistrado Alberto Amiot, juez visitante de Chile ante la Comisión Interamericana para el Control del Abuso de Drogas (CIDAD) de la OEA, y también Juez del Segundo Juzgado de Garantía, coordinó estas simulaciones con la ayuda del equipo jurídico y psicosocial. Las simulaciones fueron seguidas de audiencias reales coordinadas por el Magistrado Jorge Sáez y su equipo de la Zona Sur de la capital chilena.
El Jefe de la División de Reinserción Social del Ministerio de Justicia de Chile, Sebastián Valenzuela Agüero, quien fue el encargado de cerrar este taller intensivo, destacó “la importancia de este modelo por su carácter innovador en el marco de la política pública de seguridad ciudadana y la aplicación eficaz de la justicia terapéutica, permitiendo una intervención holística en materia penal que aúna esfuerzos jurídico-sanitarios”.
