Casualty Notice: 'NICA I'

We have received reports that the " NICA I ", a 1999 built container vessel flying the Cypriot flag, has grounded in the South China Sea.

It is carrying a cargo loaded in Australia and was bound for Port Klang. However, in the nature of the container trade, the cargo will be bound for many different final destinations.

The vessel requires professional assistance from salvors, as it is hard aground. We would not be surprised if cargo lightering will be required.

It is also likely that General Average will be declared.

So far as any recovery is concerned, we have identified the vessel's P&I Club, which is headquartered in London.

If your own guarantees are not acceptable to salvors we can also assist you in arranging salvage security to secure any salvage claims, with a bail fee from 0.5% of the guarantee amount.
