No obstante, un prometed or estudio liderado por investigadores de la Universidad de Mi-
chigan ha identificado una posible solución para detectar esta bas ura “indetectable”. Según el
estudio, cuando los fragm entos de basura espacial chocan entre sí, emiten durante una frac-
ción de segundo señales e léctricas que podrían ser rastreadas. Esto s estallidos podrían ayu-
dar a identificar fragme ntos de desechos espaciales y nubes micro scópicas resultantes de las
colisiones, lo que signif ica que, irónicamente, las colisio nes entre desechos espaciales po-
drían ser la mejor maner a de detectar los fragmentos más pequeño s en el espacio ultrate-
