2014 Best Reviewer Awards for CGIR
Corporate Governance: An International Review (CGIR) is fortunate to have many talented and dedicated individuals who offer
their time and expertise to do reviewingfor our journal. Weare also fortunate to have 62 dedicated and establishedgovernance
scholars serving on our editorial review board, and over 2,000 ad hoc reviewers in our online database. Of course, some
reviewers stand out for providing consistently exemplary work for the journal, and we are highly appreciative of their efforts.
Notably, all of this work is voluntary and the only compensation is a free subscription to the journal and a listing on our
mastheadfor those who serve on our editorialreview board. Clearly, this professionalism and dedicationneeds to be recognized
and celebrated.
In order to recognize some of the truly exceptional reviewers here at CGIR, the journal conducts an annual “best reviewer”
award in orderto recognize those individualswho truly stand out. Our policy is of not repeatingwinners in a three-year period,
as we would like toenlarge the number of scholarswhich we would like to recognize fortheir great contribution to thejournal.

In 2014, we are pleased to announce that Jill Brown is one of the two reviewers recognized for their contributions to our
journal. Jill is an Associate Professor of Management at the Bentley University, USA. Jill received a PhD in Strategic
Management at theUniversity of Georgia. Her contribution to the journalhas been invaluable as she has consistently provided
high quality and timely (with an average of about 19 days) reviews. In 2014, Jill handled five manuscripts and earned an
average reviewer score of 3.0 out of 3.0. Importantly, Jill’s reviews provided extensive and constructive comments about how
the paper could be improved on both rigor and relevance.
In addition to Jill, we would also like to recognizeas an outstanding reviewer Gavin Nicholson. Gavin is Associate Professor
in Accounting at the QUT Business School, Australia. He has a PhD from the University of Queensland. Gavin handled six
manuscripts in 2014 and maintained a remarkable average reviewer score –2.75 –and provided timely reviews (24 days).
By providing timely and high-quality reviews, Gavin is contributing greatly to the review process of CGIR.
As a token of our appreciation for their service to the journal, we will be providing Jill and Gavin each with a plaque,
similar to our previous distinguished award winners. While this plaque could never compensate them for their many years
of training and expertise as well as their many hours of extraordinary service to the journal, it is a tangible symbol of their
generous and professional contributions to international corporate governance scholarship. On behalf of Wiley-Blackwell
and CGIR, we recognize and celebrate scholars such as Jill Brown and Gavin Nicholson for their service to the field.
